Yikes! Gothamist has some wild pictures and a purported eyewitness account of a taxi slamming into a bus on Central Park West and 86th Street on Monday afternoon around 3:40 p.m. Three patients, all from the taxi, were taken to St. Luke’s-Roosevelt and were listed in serious condition. The picture brings an obvious question to mind: namely, how the hell did this happen?
The taxi appears to be coming from the park, but not from a normal car exit lane. Gothamist’s tipster writes in that the cab was going North on CPW when it jumped the curb, slammed into the stone wall, bounced off, swung back around and collided with the bus. It narrowly missed a young woman, who was clad all in pink and jumped off the curb at the time of the crash.
The bus, of course, didn’t seem to be damaged. Hey they’re slow, but they’re tough.
Funny, the question that I think it begs is: When are we going to wake up to the fact that high speeds kill people? Slow the hell down folks. 3:40 is right when area school children are let loose.
