Just got the following notice from Lauren Schuster, the chief of staff for State Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal:
“We need volunteers at all the local shelters for the overnight in particular. Folks have been sent to the shelters on the UWS from shelters that have lost their power elsewhere. Here is the information, please let me know if there is anything else you need.
According to UWS CERT Team Cheif Shelly Fine, the evacuation shelters are still up and running.
There is a pressing need for overnight volunteers tonight at Brandeis High School on West 84th Street (between Amsterdam & Columbus Avenues). There are currently 115 evacuees being served there.
MS 118 on 93rd Street (between Amsterdam & Columbus Avenues) is receiving evacuees from another shelter that lost power. It will also need volunteers overnight.
