Four people are injured after a fire ignited Thursday morning within the first-floor parking garage and loading dock area of a 44-story Upper West Side building, an FDNY spokesperson told West Side Rag.
The flames broke out about 9:30 a.m. at 20 West 64th Street, otherwise known as One Lincoln Plaza, FDNY said. The building has 655 residential units and nine commercial units.
The parking garage at the address is called Icon Parking.
A total of 78 firefighters responded to the blaze, which was put under control by 11:15 a.m., but resulted in four injuries, including three firefighters, FDNY said.
The trio of firefighters were all transported to local hospitals in various, unspecified, conditions, FDNY said. The injured civilian refused medical attention at the scene, the spokesperson added.
Fire marshals will investigate the cause and the origin of the flames.

Sheez. 78 firefighters, 3 injured – for a parking garage fire? Was there building/construction/renovation material stored down there?? Scooters or e-bikes or electric cars involved?? Have to say, sitting here in an apartment many floors up over a multi-storey parking garage – I hope there will be info soon to add an update to this story, to understand what the cause or danger might be. I know our apartments are supposedly fireproof, but these intense fires one reads about seem concerning. Thanks WSR.
Is there any indication that there was any damage or resulting injury in the building’s lobby or on any of the residential floors? That would be a good indicator of relative construction and safety.
LAZ recently took over the garage from Icon. There has been construction for about a month.
