Store is closed.

Aside from a few words from Langston Hughes.

“Christmas Eve: Nearing Midnight in New York”

The Christmas trees are almost all sold
And the ones that are left go cheap
The children almost all over town
Have almost gone to sleep.

The skyscraper lights on Christmas Eve
Have almost all gone out
There’s very little traffic
Almost no one about.

Our town’s almost as quiet
As Bethlehem must have been
Before a sudden angel chorus
Sang PEACE ON EARTH
GOOD WILL TO MEN!

Our old Statue of Liberty
Looks down almost with a smile
As the Island of Manhattan
Awaits the morning of the Child.

I just love the Christmas tree in the courtyard of that building. It is such a great city photo and the tree warms up the building wonderfully.

A couple of weeks ago I asked a contractor who was exiting the site, and he said it would open between Christmas and New Year’s. So, SOON! Can’t wait.

By the look of the place through the windows, very soon indeed – like days or a week. Shelves and countertops are up, pallets of stock on the floor.

Merry Christmas to those who celebrate! Remember, as the man said, “any…spirit working kindly in its little sphere, whatever it may be, will find its mortal life too short for its vast means of usefulness.”
