News:
The Drisha Institute for Jewish education is moving downtown, leaving its home on 65th Street. “At the end of the month, Drisha will be leaving the space it has occupied for the last 14 years, and for the first time since its founding almost 40 years ago, it will not have an established home on the Upper West Side of Manhattan…This place, which has changed the minds, hearts, and lives of so many, will live on through the Torah we learn and the Torah we teach, rippling out beyond what we could ever see or imagine.”
Charles Welsh was denied bail after his apparent suicide attempt caused an explosion at his 94th Street brownstone. “Welsh told detectives he used a hacksaw to sever what he knew was a natural gas pipe. ‘After I cut it, I tried to inhale the natural gas in an effort to asphyxiate myself. It didn’t work, so I cut it more. I tried to redirect the flow of the gas to my face,’ Welsh told cops, according to the criminal complaint.”
