Trevor Day School has a rich history of providing exceptional early childhood programs in Manhattan. Founded in 1930 as a Nursery and Kindergarten program, the school adopted an educational philosophy that focused not only on academic growth and achievement, but also on the social and emotional development of children. Out of this commitment grew the tenets of Trevor today: active learning, collaboration, and students at the center of their learning.

Trevor’s early childhood programs—Nursery (which starts at 2.8 years) and Pre-Kindergarten (which starts at age 4)—are based in Trevor’s Lower School, located in the Andrew Goodman Building at 1 West 88th Street and Central Park West. Both programs feature dynamic, play-based curricula that spark wonder in young children.

Two expert teachers in every classroom provide a nurturing setting in which students tackle the many building blocks of learning. Additional enriching experiences, provided by specialists in art, music, physical education, and Spanish are a part of every school week, as are trips to Central Park, which is playfully referred to as “Trevor’s backyard.”

Early childhood applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Explore the early childhood programs at Trevor’s next Take a Look Morning on Thursday, March 2nd. Register today!

Our primary goal is to create a safe and respectful space where a broad spectrum of voices can be heard. We welcome diverse viewpoints and encourage readers to engage critically with one another’s ideas, but never at the expense of civility. Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
