The Daily News reported the deceased is a man, but NYPD could not confirm and did not have the person’s age. A police spokesperson also did not have the exact address or the floor that the person fell from.

Update: the Post also reports that the deceased was a man and he jumped from 101 West 79th street.

As an agent at Halstead Property, which was right at the scene, I really just wanted to thank the NYPD for their professionalism in handling this awful situation this morning.

So sorry you had to experience this, or the aftermath, or both. So incredibly sad that someone would resort to do this to themselves.

If you are thinking about harming yourself you might want to listen to the NPR Radio Lab about people who are rescued after jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge. Upwards of 90% regret their leap as soon as their hands leave the bridge.
Thanks WSR for printing the suicide Prevention Lifeline above.
