The Paul Taylor Dance Company returns to the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for three weeks, November 3-22, 2026, for their annual New York Season. In addition to the ten works from Paul Taylor’s repertory, the Season continues Artistic Director Michael Novak’s commitment to developing new work and championing today’s most compelling dance makers by featuring world premieres by Resident Choreographers Lauren Lovette and Robert Battle as well as a New York premiere from acclaimed choreographer Pam Tanowitz.
Resident Choreographer Lauren Lovette brings the music of experimental indie rock band The Books to life in her new work, 30 Incoming on November 5, 12, and 17, with costumes and set by Mark Eric and lighting by Brandon Stirling Baker. Resident Choreographer Robert Battle creates A Starling November 4, 6, 19 and 22, a work set to composer John Mackey’s Bells on the Garment of Silence, featuring lighting by James F. Ingalls and stage design and costumes by artist Anne Patterson. Pam Tanowitz returns for her second commission for the Taylor Company with Messengers, Maidens and the End of Something Else on November 8, 14 (evening), and 20, featuring sets created from visual artist Sarah Crowner’s paintings and sculptures, costumes by Harriet Jung and Reid Bartelme, and lighting by Brandon Stirling Baker, set to Schubert’s Death and the Maiden.
The Season features two striking Company premieres. Robert Battle’s No Longer Silent (2007) is choreographed to a long-forgotten score by Austro-Czech Jewish composer Erwin Schulhoff, who was banned in Nazi Germany and composed the work between 1922 and 1925. Schulhoff’s music will be heard at the David H. Koch Theater for the first time performed live by the celebrated Orchestra of St. Luke’s, the Taylor company’s longtime music partner under the baton of Taylor Music Director David LaMarche on November 3, 8, 14 (evening) and 20. Also featured is Alwin Nikolais’ groundbreaking Tensile Involvement (1953), a mesmerizing fusion of movement, lighting, and stage design in which dancers create a luminous “cat’s cradle” across the stage on November 4, 5, 14 (matinee), 15, and 21.
“In curating this Season, I wanted to bring together Paul Taylor’s masterworks with works by contemporary choreographers, creating a dialogue between the Company’s remarkable legacy and its future,” says Novak. “Pairing these premieres with dances such as Airs, Brandenburgs, Cloven Kingdom, Last Look and Esplanade showcases the exceptional range of the Taylor dancers, a range that reaches new heights with the revivals of Alwin Nikolais’ pioneering Tensile Involvement and Robert Battle’s No Longer Silent.”
Tickets to the Season are on sale now, with prices starting at $19, at www.boxoffice.dance.
