Another pizzeria on the Upper West Side has closed its doors.
Jet’s Pizza, at 728 Amsterdam Avenue, between West 95th and 96th streets, shuttered in the past few days.
The location is listed as “permanently closed” on Google, its phone number no longer works, and the outpost has been removed from the Jet’s Pizza website.
“Just wanted to share, but it appears the Jet’s Pizza on the Upper West Side is now permanently closed,” Paula Rosenberg wrote to West Side Rag in an email on Wednesday. “They did not open up for business on Sunday or Monday.”
Jet’s Pizza, which has locations across the United States, is a franchise that serves Detroit-style square pizza. It opened its Upper West Side location in the summer of 2022.
While Jet’s Pizza is a chain and had only been open for a few years, it follows the permanent closures in July of both Cheesy Pizza and Francesco’s Pizza, which served Upper West Siders for more than 25 years from their respective blocks on either end of the neighborhood.
As the Rag reported this week, though, Lucia Pizza aims to open on Columbus Avenue, between West 67th and 68th streets, in September.
Jet’s Pizza still has two Brooklyn locations and an Upper East Side outpost.

It was like Little Caesars. Maybe one will open up in its place.

Jets was not very good. very little pepperoni on their Detroit style, even after asking for double. Sauce was just ok.
Gina, Don’t listen to these haters who can’t appreciate good ranch, much less a giant squeeze bottle of good ranch.
Ranch has nothing to do with pizza, nor should it, despite what they do in Pittsburgh.
You must be nuts if you think ranch is something to die for. Their pizza was mediocre at best
Clearly you have not been to Detroit where the ranch from Jet’s is constantly declared the best.
W96th and north is in desperate need of some businesses. So many vacancies.

I thought Jet’s was good but IMO New Yorkers prefer locally based pizzerias.
NYC residents generally don’t warm up to national chains (the Domino’s on 72nd St being an exception).
The words Domino’s and pizza should never appear in the same sentence.
Jet lasted longer then I expected. I paid a premium price for a slice of pepperoni pizza with only 4 slices of pepperoni I made the decision to go 2 doors down to Familia from that day on.
Familia is awful pizza.
Is it closing because of all the new “upscale” pizza places opening?
At least we can devine the favorite menu item preferred by the editors to f the WSR – Pizza!
As an UWSer for 60 years, I have noticed that, of late, one pizza parlor closes, and another opens; i.e., the overall number of parlors remains fairly steady. As for whether the new parlors are as good as, worse than, or better than the old ones, that obviously depends on what one looks for in a slice.
Personally, I miss Francesco’s (my third favorite slice on the UWS- and some of the nicest staff anywhere), but have welcomed the “new” Marinara Pizza to Amsterdam and 83rd (one of my favorite slices). But my current favorite slice is the parlor on the corner of 80th and Amsterdam (forgot the name).

Just wanted to say hello to a neighbor. I’ve been an UWSer for 53 years! Moved here from the Bronx in 73 at 20 and still here at 73!!
I do not wish ill upon any business and I respect everyone having their own taste. I personally did not like their pizza. But I prefer traditional NY style pizza. I know there are those who prefer otherwise and might like this so I am sorry for those people that this is gone. But I also believe in supply and demand.
More disappointment from the Jets

Wasn’t this literally steps from and on the same side of the street as Familias? I always found that choice of location odd. I also think the Detroit style pizza choice was their death knell because this is NYC and most people will opt for a NY slice before any other style. I say this because I’m a native NYer who remembers when a slice was 25 cents, so I think I know a bit about what Im talking about!!
So more cannabis dispensaries keep opening and more pizza places keep closing? Seems ironic given one well known side effect of using cannabis lol
Oh man, I really liked Jet. It hit the spot and was open till 2am and would even deliver. I hate that there aren’t many places that stay open late anymore.
Jet’s was great! Consistent quality, fast delivery, open late. This sucks.
There are too many pizza places anyway. From Little Italy to Fiorello’s thin crust and Masseria de Vini Calabrian pizza. All excellent!
I’m so sad 🙁 They were the only pizza place nearby open past midnight. Loved getting pizza on my way home from late shifts.
Jets pizza was awful, Famous Famiglia should be next. The quality of their Pizza has gone downhill in recent years.
It made sense to do take out pizza, small place, no tables, low rent, that close to Famous Famiglia, sizable place, high rent.
But the pizza was marginal and the price point pretty high. I thought they’d be gone in about a year.

I hated Jets Pizza but My husband loved it and he’s the pizza guy…. I did love their wings!
