Bring your family or friends, or both, for bingo, quiz shows, and more this evening at Pier i Cafe in Riverside Park. Prizes will be awarded! Part of Riverside Park Conservancy’s “Summer on the Hudson” series of free events, this game night is being hosted by the NYC Trivia League. Seating is unreserved and available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Billion Oyster Project Presentation: Saturday, August 15th at noon on the Baylander at West 125th Street and the Hudson River (West Harlem Piers); free
Billion Oyster Project is a non-profit that’s restoring oyster reefs across NY Harbor and teaching kids and adults alike how to sustain them. This Saturday, they’re offering a presentation about their work aboard the former Navy ship The Baylander, docked at the West Harlem Piers near West 125th Street.
Blues BBQ Festival: Saturday, August 15th from 1 to 9 p.m. at Pier 76 in Hudson River Park (opposite the Javits Center); free admission, with food and drink available for purchase
Barbecue, blues music, dance lessons, games, hot sauces, a festival marketplace, and more will be on offer this Saturday, just a short walk south on the UWS at Pier 76, near West 37th Street, in Hudson River Park. Performances will take place on two stages and include Bobby Rush, Buckwheat Zydeco Jr. & The Legendary Ils Sont Partis Band, Radam Schwartz, Melvin Davis, Sugaray Rayform, and more. The Second Stage is curated by the Jazz Foundation of America. Visit the website for a listing of barbecue, hot sauce and dessert vendors.
“Green & Levine” at Dive Bar: Monday, August 17th from 8 to 10 p.m.; Broadway and West 101st Street; free admission, with drinks and snacks available for purchase
“The doctors are in,” as Levine put it, this Monday at local favorite Dive Bar on Broadway near West 101st Street, with a two-hour set of live music. Dr. Josh Levine, a surgeon and longtime UWSer, and his brother-in-law Dr. Jeff Green played a gig at Dive Bar a few months ago that I caught. It was terrific. Green plays pop tunes, giving songs you’ll recognize his own spin, along with some Israeli folk music, while Levine plays his own folk-Americana songs. Both individually and together, they sound great, and you can’t beat Dive Bar for a classic UWS venue.

Annual Kite Festival on Pier 1 on Saturday, 12:00 noon – 5:00 p.m.! If there’s a breeze, this event is a real treat. But breeze or no breeze, there will be lots of live music.
