A fire broke out on the Upper West Side Wednesday morning that injured multiple people, according to a spokesperson from the FDNY.
The flames ignited around 1 a.m. within 33 West 63rd Street, a residential building between Broadway and Central Park West, the spokesperson said.
A total of 79 firefighters responded to the blaze and brought it under control by 1:30 a.m., according to the FDNY.
Four people were transported to a local hospital in unknown condition, the FDNY spokesperson told WSR.
It is unclear what caused the fire.

I find this highly suspicious, since 33 was the last “holdout” when the ASCAP building was being developed; the landlord of 33 was the only one who refused to sell, and 33 is the only residential building on that block (The one to its right actually has its entrance on 64th; the only other building on the block is the YMCA.)
Any developer would give his/her right arm for this property, given what could be developed on it. So a fire in this building is automatically going to raise eyebrows.
