La Traviatta, hands down the best pizza on the UWS.

Pizza is like art: hopelessly subjective. the “best” pizza depends on what one likes in a pizza: hard crust or soft, thin crus or thick, tangy sauce or sweet, minimal or maximal cheese, etc.

My three favorite slices on the UWS are Made in NY (80th/Amst), Marinara (83rd/Amst) and Francesco’s (68th/Col). All are very different, but all are great for what they are.

Except for maybe those two places the overall slice situation around here is really, really bad. Every place seems to think that they’re supposed to display multiple cold pizzas instead of serving it as fresh as possible from the oven. Made in New York on Bway and 96th is particularly awful. There’s a much better pizza scene in Queens.

But you’d have to go to Queens to experience it.

I work there so yes I agree. Probably downtown is better too. The UES might even be better.

Love the bright color in the image of our planet—and the approaching visitors’ faces!

Welcome, Kang and Kodos! Go to V and T, Amst. bet. W.110th and W.111th, especially for breadlike crust. (Come a little farther north, UWSers; M11, M4, 1-train.)

Don’t forget about Song e Napule. Fantastic Neapolitan pizza. We’re fortunate to have them in the neighborhood!
