A teenager was slashed multiple times Wednesday night on the Upper West Side, a police spokesperson confirmed to West Side Rag.

A 16-year-old boy was slashed on the back, left shoulder, and left wrist around 10:45 p.m. within a building that is part of Waterline Square on West 61st Street, police said.

He was rushed to Mount Sinai Morningside hospital in stable condition, NYPD added.

According to reporting from amNY, the teenager was in the staircase of the luxury Upper West Side building with another person, when four people ran at him and chased him into the lobby of the building, where they attacked him.

A knife was discovered later at the scene, amNY added.

The group fled the building after the attack, police said.

Neither police nor amNY provided details about any motive for the assault.

There have been no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.

Three nights before, a female resident of the same building was jumped and gang beaten outside, next to the building and it’s restaurant. Lots a troubled teens in the area. Some very young. No social services for these kids. No security around. Dismal management of the complex.

I managed to grow up without the availability of social services. I had what is known as “parents who care”. They disciplined me. They loved me. They expected me to be a good person.

Usually both parents work, now. Regarding social services, I meant programs to keep kids busy and learn more social skills.

The issue isn’t simply that parents work these days. Many children have two working parents and still learn right from wrong.

In many cases like this, however, the parents aren’t working and don’t take care about their children. Social services do nothing. There are free summer programs all over the city, but these teenagers won’t step a foot there and social services can’t make them.

Always social services. How about accountability that is learned from the surrounding environment?

The term “Luxury” building is relevant. Attack on a woman in the building according to a post by NYCWUS three nights earlier. What is happening to cause this?

Youth of today are aware that there are no punishments for bad behavior. Criminal activity is not punished. Maybe with a slap on the wrist, but there are no consequences. I’m from the old skool of thought and was raised in the UWS – still residing here for over 57 years. I remember growing up and fearing older residents, and respecting the NYPD. Even the older teenage kids would warn the younger kids to not disrespect the walking beat cop. None of that exists anymore. Bring back the night stick – first tap on the sidewalk was your first warning; second tap on the sidewalk was your second warning; third tap was your final warning . . . and on you know what! Trust me, it worked!!

I never knew why NYPD stopped having cops walk a beat. Was it an attempt to reduce temptations for receiving bribes, or a response to accusations of police brutality, or … Where is Officer Krupke when we need him?

What’s there to understand? The cops are under scrutiny for a single movement while criminals are constantly going through the revolving door. Yet people want to vote for Bragg and Hochul who created this mess simply became they are democrats. That’s why we, moderates, are distancing ourselves from the insane partisans nonsense.

This building and area really need to increase security and add more cameras.

Don’t these luxury buildings have doormen? If so how did the 4 individuals get in? If no doormen don’t they have security cameras?

Then the doormen or neighbors looking at security footage should be easily able to ID them.

Lincoln Towers has a private security team to protect its property.

Waterline Square has a giant plaza but I’ve never seen any security presence there.

Waterline Square should learn from Lincoln Towers.

Adams is definitely pro corruption, but really stopping crime is NYPD’s job. Be nice if they took it seriously.

I’m not sure who you are trying to insult here – Republicans, Adams, or both.

In any case anything and anyone is better than Mamdani who became fashionable among privileged, unemployed youth

So you’re for the incompetent corrupt Adams, the corrupt Cuomo, or the other joke Sliwa, who has a habit inventing crimes against his person?

Ever since “raise the age” went through in 2019 – anyone under the age of 18 will go to family court first, no matter what. The teenagers KNOW THIS. You can thank your current legislators for that and ex-Gov Cuomo for signing that into law. And if Mandami wins – we’ll be lucky we even have a police force to go and catch these teenagers. As many have said – these are the results of the last 5 years. Think things should change just a little bit now or are we going to vote in more of the same or worse? There is a lot to pay attention to in the next elections.

Mt. Sinai West is not a trauma center. However, Mt. Sinai Morningside is.

The better question is why he wasn’t taken to Cornell, which is a pediatric trauma center. 16 is still well within the pediatric cut-off at Cornell.

Maybe for his own protection, security nearby being what it is, and easy access to the gang bangers that know him.

Mount Sinai st 59 st doesn’t have the same level of ER capabilities. That should show you how serious his wounds were.

Any chance this is connected to a missing Mayor, a prosecutor who doesn’t prosecute and voters who keep electing the same people?
