When you’re choosing a high school for your son, you want a place where academics, community, and character development all come together. The Browning School, a private K-12 boys’ school on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, believes that great teaching starts with strong relationships — and now, Upper School students have a brand-new, light-filled, modern facility that’s been designed just for them.
On May 14, 2025, Browning officially opened its new Upper School building at 337 East 64th Street, just a few blocks from its longtime home on East 62nd Street. Spanning nearly 60,000 square feet, the new space features larger classrooms, flexible collaboration spaces, and a bright dining commons — all created to support the dynamic, relational learning that defines the Browning Upper School curriculum. A regulation-size gymnasium will also host home games for the first time, helping to build even more school spirit among students and families. The building will welcome an expanding cohort of high school students in the fall.
The building was intentionally designed not just for academics but to enhance Student Life across grades 9-12, with new spaces for clubs, performances, leadership activities, and community events. Students will continue to start their day the Browning way — with a handshake from an administrator — and enjoy meaningful traditions like mentorship programs and cross-divisional connections.

The Browning School’s mission — to foster curiosity, dignity, purpose, and honesty — is at the heart of all its extensive programming. While the new Upper School building offers exciting opportunities and spaces, the school’s enduring commitment is to continue educating boys with intention and care. With this new chapter, the future at Browning is not just brighter — it’s built for what’s ahead.
