A group of men have been stealing motorcycles off New York City streets, including on the Upper West Side, police said.
In the early morning of June 23, three people riding motorcycles approached a red motorcycle parked in front of 200 West 86th Street, between Broadway and Amsterdam, before grabbing the new bike and fleeing west on West 86th Street, police said.
The red motorcycle was valued at roughly $6,000, NYPD added.
Police have also connected the Upper West Side robbery to two other incidents that happened in recent months, including one in which four people stole a black motorcycle worth $31,000 off a Washington Heights street on July 8, and a robbery on the Upper East Side on the same day when six people flashed a gun at a man and stole a $22,000 motorcycle, NYPD said.
The group is also suspected of three additional robberies throughout the city, police said.
NYPD released a new photo Tuesday of two of the suspects.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Not much you can do when criminals do not fear being caught.
As bad as Bragg is with his selective prosecutions, it’s even worse in Chicago: https://www.city-journal.org/article/just-dont-carjack-our-convention?skip=1&utm_source=virtuous&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=cjdaily
Maybe we should count our blessings!
It’s unfortunate that there’s no real facial detail in these photos. If infra-red flash were attached to the city’s anti-crime cameras, we’d get a lot better detail on the faces of the suspects, and they’d never know they were photographed as infra-red is not visible to the unaided eye. All it takes is well-spent anti-crime funding.
It’s 2024. Isn’t it time for high-quality cameras? Why do all criminal suspect photos look like they were taken with a potato?
And as long as we’re at it, how about better information on the motorcycles? We would never say ‘a red car was stolen from Riverside Drive’. What make? Ducati? Honda? Harley?
Why is this article portraying motorcycle theft as a new thing in 2024?
My buddy had his motorcycle stolen in 2009. Van pulled up, and the guys in the van simply lifted the machine into the back of the van. All caught on security cameras. Wouldn’t have happened if the motorcycle were chained to some kind of post/rack.
