Two people were robbed last week by a group of people in Central Park, police said on Thursday.
A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were walking within Central Park around 9 p.m. near West 62nd Street, when a group approached them and forcibly grabbed their backpack, headphones, and wallet, before running away, police said.
NYPD added there were no injuries.
Police released a photo of the suspects on Thursday.

Anyone who chooses to cover their face in summer heat is to be immediately avoided
A VERY good warning. Our police and government officials should promote this as well.
Unfortunately, I think pigs will fly before the NYPD dares stop and frisk a guy wearing a balaclava in July, in NYC. We’ve lost all common sense.
Stop and frisk was outlawed.
Can they still do stop and frisk?
Why weren’t they identified as being “brown” because they sure look it. Black people are being id’d that way. Certainly reduces the suspect pool.
I don’t believe that anyone is identified as “black” in police reports any more. Sometimes perhaps “dark skinned” (which might take in your suggestion of “brown” as well) but calling someone “black” is apparently prohibited. I’m sure the same rule also applies to describing people as “brown”.
I’ve always avoided Central Park at night but now it’s truly a no go” zone after dark.
I’ve never had a problem nor really felt unsafe in Central Park after dark. Providing you exercise a reasonable amount of vigilance I highly recommend it. The park is absolutely beautiful at night! But if none of you go I won’t be offended – I also love the fact that it’s peaceful and quiet. More park for me! 🙂
I never did either, until I was attacked last fall about 8:30pm. I’m angry that my fearlessness has been taken away.
there has been an uptick in these type of crimes. Just wondering if the amount of unvetted Migrants have anything to do with this.
Two out of the five suspects were reportedly arrested last week at the Stratford Arms shelter on West 70th Street.

We are paying taxes to raise future robbers in expensive locations, which harms residents, tourists and necessitates more police enforcement. Earlier this year this location already has a 15-year-old who shot security guard, tourist in Times Square. It’s like the city government is allowing a cancerous cell to grow in the center of your face, choking you up.

One never knows, do one /
if the city would pass a cover your face spend a week in jail or 2500 fine, the face coverings would go away.
A few of these kids look like they can’t be 14 years old even. Sickening.
Child robbery is common in tourist areas in Europe. They often work in groups, getting close to you and putting their hands in your pockets. They used to be referred to as Romani people. They typically don’t learn to pay taxes or vote for a better society and may have no desire to obtain work permits.
9 pm is not even very late. I used to be comfortable in Central Park at all times until in 2020 my husband and I were walking from the park on W 94th St and were attacked We managed to get away, but that changed the perception of safety. Possibly forever.
WSR just published an article saying that major crimes are down. What about these types of crimes, which affect far more people?
The caption for this story on the home page says “The pair were walking within the park near West 97th Street, police said.”.
The story above says “A 20-year-old man and a 21-year-old man were walking within Central Park around 9 p.m. near West 62nd Street…”
Did this robbery happen near 97th Street or 62nd Street?
Thanks, fixed.
Central Park should be closed at Sunset, unless an event is going on, and that should be well lit and heavy NYPD security in the area.
No.
The park should be open after sunset. Criminals should be given harsh punishments that will remove them from the park.
