Put the rumors to rest.
Official signage for the new Wegmans supermarket has gone up at the former Bed Bath & Beyond space at 1932 Broadway, between West 64th and 65th streets.
The opening will mark the third New York City location for the supermarket chain, which was founded in 1916 in Rochester, New York. Wegmans first ventured into the Big Apple in 2019 at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, before opening its first Manhattan location on Astor Place in October 2023.
Its headquarters are now based in Gates, New York.
Wegmans has developed its own “Wegmaniacs” cult-like following over the years. This could be attributed to its wide selection, organized market layout, and organic food with hot bar options.
There’s currently no official opening date set for Wegmans Upper West Side.

Question. If Bobby is on the street so much, how does he have time to write?
I can’t wait as love Wegmans especially all their organic items and their incredible breads
People seem obsessed. How does it compare to Trader Joe’s?
No comparison. Wegmans is an upscale store
Far above and beyond.
Blows it away.
Wegmans offers a butcher shop, a fresh fish market, a deli section, and great in-restaurant dining options. I’ll buy a 14″ sandwich and have them cut it into six sections for several lunches and dinners.
“Bed Bad & Beyond ” may be the best typo ever by WSR. I love you guys!
Fixed…reluctantly.
My husband and I always used to call it “Bed, Bath & Nowhere.”
I can’t wait for Wegmans to open!!!!
I first learned about Wegman’s years ago hearing my upstate colleagues in the Assembly talking so affectionally about it.
Sooo excited! Love Wegman’s
I became a Wegman’s fan when I used to go to the store in Lancaster County, PA. Their cheese bread is addictive. It’s also the store where law enforcement caught up with Robert Durst. Can’t wait for this branch to open.
I hope they don’t disappoint.. Great market with delicious premade food and great prices.
This is by far the best grocery store I’ve been to. It will be so nice not having to trek down to Astor Place every other weekend! Can’t wait!
It’s going to be a nightmare to get in the first few weeks after opening because ppl will act as if it will never be open again.
What’s Wegmans pricing policy like? Is it like TJ’s and BBB in that it’s the same no matter what their address is. Or is it specific to that location like the H-Mart that’s next door to 200 Amsterdam avenue.
Will they deliver to upper west side?
Don’t trash traderjo’s 2 different kinds of stores….
I’m cracking up because as a true city dweller, whenever I get excited about seeing something awesome opening, my next thought is “oh maaaan, it’s 20 blocks away, I’ll never get there” lol… it is amazing how much walking distance matters.
(Next subject: WHEN ARE RETAIL CLOTHING STORES COMING BACK TO 86th AND BROADWAY???)
I’m curious to know where Wegmans’ leftover foods go. I wonder if there is a contract already established with no local middle agent for local consumers, or if there are no local consumers. Wegmans guarantees to sell fresh foods all the time.
I hope it doesn’t take them a year to get set up. You guys are making me want to see it for myself. 🙂
The new Morton Williams is not going to make it.
