Well-Paid Maids Celebrates 7 Years of Paying Living Wages

Aaron Seyedian launched the home cleaning company Well-Paid Maids in June 2017 and, that August, began offering cleaning services around the D.C. area with his staff of three — including himself.

At the time, he paid cleaners a living wage of $16 an hour, plus benefits.

Here’s what he told The Washington Post in September 2017: “It’s just immoral for people to have to panic every time the rent is due, to wonder how they’re going to pay for their groceries, or whether they can buy their kid a pair of shoes.”

Today, Well-Paid Maids has grown into a team of about 35 employees and expanded its services into New York City in 2022. Here, cleaners get paid a starting wage of $27 an hour. Plus, they get benefits, like health, vision, dental and life insurance; 24 paid days off per year; 100% employer-paid commuting costs; and more.

Aaron and other Well-Paid Maids team members have also advocated for paid family and medical leave, higher minimum wages, and more.

This summer, help Well-Paid Maids celebrate seven years of creating change in a notoriously dirty industry. Book your cleaning.
