Stay the Night: Join the JCC in Person for Tikkun Leil Shavuot Jun 11-12!

Since 2004, the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan has celebrated the Jewish holiday of Shavuot with The Paul Feig z”l Tikkun Leil Shavuot, opening its doors to thousands of people for a free night of study, music, celebration, conversation, deep thought…and cheesecake. Celebrate in person all night long, from 9 pm on Tuesday, June 11, to 5 am on Wednesday, June 12.

There are over 70 sessions for you to drop into during this all-night event. Highlights include sessions with award-winning lyricist/composer Benj Pasek, Tony-nominated actor Steven Skybell, and best-selling author Dan Senor; conversations with city council member Gale Brewer, Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg, Rabbi David Wolpe, and Columbia University professor Shai Davidai; movement classes including Israeli dance and silent disco; music and comedy events with MusicTalks, The Bible Players, and Liz Glazer; and much more.

This year’s programs cover a range of topics appealing to audiences of all backgrounds, including explorations of contemporary issues such as antisemitism, Israel since October 7, and American-Israeli relations. There will also be additional focus on healing, laughing, learning, art-making, and more.

A full track will run all night with sessions sponsored by the World Zionist Organization, entitled “WZO’s Jewish Peoplehood Hub, Jewish Peoplehood in Times of Crisis.” A meaningful gallery installation titled Flowers Will Bloom Again will be on display in the lobby. This creative tribute honors the memory of all civilians who fell victim to the tragic events of October 7. During Yom Hazikaron, community members crafted, painted, and knitted red flowers. Each flower symbolizes a life remembered and a promise for renewal and is a powerful visual testament to the community’s resilience and unity in the face of loss.

The Tikkun will begin on the JCC rooftop with an opening song circle at 9 pm. This beautiful moment of communal singing will be led by Rabbi Yael Rapport and Cantor Shimon Smith.

Shavuot commemorates G-d’s revelation and the Jewish people’s receiving of the Torah at Mount Sinai. Today, many Jews around the world celebrate this holiday by staying up all night and studying Torah. Tikkun Leil Shavuot at the JCC honors the memory of Paul Feig z”l, who died in a car accident in 1998. Paul was the brother of longtime JCC board member and current board chair Jeff Feig.

The JCC invites you to stay an hour, two, or all night long for this UWS Shavuot celebration. Come for the revelation, stay for the cheesecake! No registration necessary.
