Kitty Trapped in AT&T Store for a Month Rescued and Adopted

The kitten that was trapped for a month without food or water in the former AT&T store at 2195 Broadway (78th Street), has been rescued and adopted by a guy named Mike who lives in the apartment building that houses the empty retail space, West Side Rag learned from another tenant.

“Do not know the kitty’s name,” the tenant responded to our inquiry. “All I know is that one of the tenants, Mike, who rents in the building where I live has the kitty & all are very happy.”

We’d love to show you pictures and share some details — but we don’t have any! Mike! Do you read the Rag? Do any of Mike’s friends or relatives? Reach out to us at info@westsiderag.com and let us know how the cat was coaxed out, and how it’s adapting to cohabitation.

The kitten must have gotten food and water from someone. A kitten cannot live a week without food and water. Is it possible the mother is in there too? I hope they checked the place thoroughtly. There could be other kittens as well. If no mom, someone must have left food/water for her. SOOOO glad she is safe and in a home. I just hope they thoroughly check the empty store. Leave out food and water, if it is eaten, you’ll know there are more cats hiding there.

Very happy kitty has been rescued but It’s impossible for a cat to survive a month without food or water. Either the time line was shorter or there was a nutrition source. Bugs? Mice? Toilet for water?
