Volunteers play a critical role in West Side Campaign Against Hunger’s (WSCAH’s) daily work alleviating hunger in New York City through their pioneering food pantry and other programs, inviting customers to choose food from an array of healthy options.
Last year, WSCAH volunteers generously donated over 19,000 hours of their time, helping WSCAH serve over 70,000 New Yorkers.
Unloading Food at West 86th Street:
WSCAH is currently experiencing an increased number of customer visits at their West 86th Street location (263 West 86th Street at West End Avenue). In order to support their distributions, they are in need of volunteers to assist with unloading deliveries. Shifts are from 9:00am to 11:00am and 11:00am to 1:00pm on weekdays. You would be helping to manually unstack pallets of food deliveries and use carts to bring the product inside to our packing area. This is a very physically labor-intensive role, and volunteers should feel comfortable lifting up to 50 pounds and working on their feet for the entire shift.
