Could Your Dog Be a Therapy Dog? Come to an Info Session and Find Out
It is a new year, and maybe you are thinking it is time to volunteer again. Well, volunteering with your dog is one of the most rewarding ways to give back. You know how much your dog brings to your life – you could bring that difference to those around you.
Learn more at an upcoming therapy dog info session:
When: Sunday, February 5th
Where: Advent Lutheran Church. Broadway and 93rd St.
Time: 2:00-3:30pm
Not sure if your dog is a good fit? Bring them along, and we will do a preliminary assessment. (Note: there are a limited number of spaces for dogs, so please sign-up early).
Therapy dogs come in all different breeds and sizes. If your dog is highly social with people, good in new situations, and knows basic obedience, you may have a therapy dog.
Come learn more about training, certification, and volunteer opportunities.
There are more and more opportunities for therapy dogs, from traditional hospital and nursing facilities to schools, libraries, and college campuses.
There is no fee to attend, but registration is required.

This event is sponsored by A Fair Shake for Youth, which offers structured, hands-on programs with therapy dogs to help youth in underserved communities build greater empathy and self-esteem, and Jane Kopelman of All About Dogs, who serves as a consultant to Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Caring Canine Program.
AFairShake4youth is an excellent organization. My therapy dog, Tasha, and I have been part of this org for several years and we love it and what we do as part of it. If you have wondered about your dog being a therapy dog, come to this event and check it out!
