A Time to Reflect and Give Thanks for What We Have
By Bob Tannenhauser
Over the past few years, we’ve endured the pandemic, tumultuous elections, political and cultural turmoil, supply-chain issues, inflation, and crime, all of which have nurtured divisiveness that can be oppressive and depressing. Yet, we who live, work, or frequent the Upper West Side have much to be thankful for and undoubtedly have much more in common in our likes than we may think.
We decided to run a contest asking our readers to list 12 things about the Upper West Side that they are thankful for. Please include on your list at least one or more of each of the following: a local small business; a cultural venue or event; a public space or park; a restaurant; market; government agency or department; charitable organization; what you like most about the West Side Rag; and any other or additional place, thing or person you appreciate about the Upper West Side. (There is a link below to help you.)
We will tabulate the results and the winner(s) will be the person or persons whose answers correspond to the highest ranked answers submitted by all who participate. The winners will receive their choice of 3 items from the new West Side Rag Shop.
Please submit your 12 answers by midnight Wednesday, November 23, Click Here to enter. Please, only one submission per person. There is no cost to enter the contest.
Happy Thanksgiving and thank you for reading the Rag.
An excellent idea..
Thank you for thinking of this contest. I’m stuck at home this year and reflecting on what I’m grateful for that’s right here was a great exercise, regardless of who “wins.”.
