Milk Bar’s apple cider donut cake is three layers and deliciously sweet yet not overbearing. This is because amid its sweet frosting and donut cake, there is a tart jam that tastes exactly like apple cider. According to Milk Bar’s website, there are bits of donuts in almost every layer of the cake, thus any fan of apple cider donuts will adore it.
Milk Bar is a bakery that is “super into feeding our flavorful treats to those who crave the unexpected.” It started in the East Village and now has seven locations in New York City, as well as stores in other major cities throughout the United States. Nonetheless, it feels like a small, local business. They say they “believe in the transformative power of a really freakin’ good cookie or an outstanding piece of cake.”
Milk Bar is a beautifully decorated location, with colorful lights radiating off the walls. There are a few places to sit inside the bakery, but there are also benches outside where anyone can enjoy the lovely flavors of their delicacies and the crisp autumn air. All the staff were extremely friendly.
A slice of Apple Cider Donut Cake costs $11.
