The body of an unidentified adult woman was found floating in the Hudson River on Friday morning at about 9:29 am, near the Henry Hudson Parkway and West 103rd Street, a police spokesperson told West Side Rag. EMS responded and pronounced the woman dead. She is presently unidentified, with “no visible signs of trauma.” It is left to the Medical Examiner to determine the cause of her death.
This is the third time a body has been retrieved from waters on or near the Upper West Side in the past two weeks. A man in his 20s was found in The Lake in Central Park on September 30. Then, on October 11, a 76-year old man, later identified as Ramon Herrera of Harlem, was found floating in Turtle Pond.
We will update as information, including the M.E.’s findings, come in.
I guess that explains the incredibly loud helicopter noise this morning. How sad.
Rest in peace, whoever you are.
