The  body of a 76-year-old man was found in Turtle Pond in Central Park, beside Belvedere Castle, on Monday, according to a police spokesperson.

The man, whose identity is known but was not released pending notification of his family, was pulled from the pond at around 4:30pm and pronounced dead.

“It doesn’t look like any criminality was involved,” the NYPD spokesperson said. “He may have had a medical incident and fallen in. That’s what we’re going with for now, but it’s for the Medical Examiner to determine.”

This is the second time in two weeks that a body was found in the waters of Central Park. A man was pulled from the Lake two weeks ago.

Disagreement is expected—even encouraged—but it must be expressed with care and consideration. Comments that take cheap shots, escalate conflict, or veer into ideological warfare detract from the constructive spirit we aim to cultivate.
