Living Wages, Benefits, Safety…If Well-Paid Maids Can Do It, Why Can’t the Big Names?

Unionization efforts have been all over the news. Employees across the country are demanding higher wages, better benefits and hours, improved working conditions — and ultimately a voice.

But here’s what we want to know:  If Well-Paid Maids can pay employees living wages, provide benefits and ensure safe working conditions…why can’t the big-time corporations?

Well-Paid Maids pays its New York City employees a starting wage of $26 an hour. It also provides benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance; 22 paid days off per year; employer-paid commuting; and more.

Well-Paid Maids ensures employees work a typical 8-to-5 day and get regular breaks. The company also uses green cleaning supplies, not only to help the environment but also employees’ health.

In contrast, these multi-billion-dollar corporations are paying employees the lowest possible wages, providing zero benefits and demanding long hours in poor working conditions.

These conversations around unionization efforts are exactly why founder Aaron Seyedian started Well-Paid Maids back in 2017: to prove you can run a successful business and pay employees a fair, living wage.

Learn more about Well-Paid Maids’ mission, and book your cleaning appointment online.

Checked out the website–they don’t guarantee that their cleaners will be on time, yet still charge a $100 cancellation fee if you cancel inside 3 days! So if I need to cancel because my cleaner is too late for my schedule, I’m out a hundred bucks. No thanks

My cleaning lady already gets $40/hr and shows up pretty much whenever she wants. Sometimes it’s the day we agreed upon, sometimes it’s the next day — whatever. We like her.

It’s not clear to me from your website whether a single person is assigned to a single home, so that there is continuity, or whether you just get someone each time. (Also if the description of your cancelation and lateness policy is accurate, that’s not right – if someone is more than 30 minutes or an hour late, the person hiring them should be able to cancel without penalty.)
