The alleged assailant.

By Daniel Krieger

On Tuesday, September 9 [not August 9 as was originally stated by the police] at 11:10am, a 27-year-old man was walking east in front of 13 West 65th Street when he was assaulted by a man without provocation, who reportedly struck him with a closed fist repeatedly in his right ear as well as his right eye, causing multiple facial fractures. The suspect then left the scene on foot. The victim received treatment at Mount Sinai West hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

“The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance to identify the whereabouts of the individual depicted in the attached surveillance video and photos in connection with the assault.”

Police said the suspect was “described as a male, approximately in his 30’s, medium skin complexion, medium build, black hair, facial hair and last seen wearing a white t-shirt, khaki pants and black sneakers.”

Anyone with information regarding this incident can call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

Just curious why it took a month to post his picture after the assault.

Is assault eligible for bail any longer? Asking for a friend.

This happened on August 9th, and the security camera video is only now being released?

Why the delay?

Did the victim not report the incident to the cops for a month?

Did the victim report the assault to the cops at the ER and then no one from the NYPD sought security camera footage from the street until after Labor Day?

Did the NYPD have the security camera/s footage on Aug. 12th and then not do more than determine that the alleged assaulter was not known to the NYPD?

Good clear photos. Hope there is a catch. Horrible assault. (Scary looking guy. Wouldn’t want him to take it out on anyone else at 11 on a Tuesday in a fine neighborhood- or anywhere anytime.)

There were assault/robberies at 76th and WEA, and 71st and B’way (near McDonald’s) yesterday. The only description was ‘teens.’ Are there cameras in either of those locations? If it was up to me I’d be scrolling crime photos at the bottom of the news every day. : (

Can’t even take a walk at 11 am now.

Thank the Governor for keeping Bragg

After this fellow is arrested and charged, he’ll be immediately freed into his own custody, after DA Bragg gives him a pair of Yankee tickets.

9/14 Amsterdam Avenue on West 89 Street 4pm we believe same man assaulted another man. The 24th precinct responded. This afternoon he was about to strike another woman but ran off. The assailant is wearing a bandana as a face mask.
