Local Man Arrested for Murder Committed in May

By Carol Tannenhauser

Police have arrested the man who allegedly shot and killed a visitor from Virginia, back on May 1st, according to an NYPD report.

“Donta King, 24, was nabbed in Wilkes-Barre Township, Pennsylvania, on Aug. 1 — exactly three months after the afternoon slaying of Ronald Thomas, 27, who was shot in the head while sitting in a white Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 near West 102nd Street and Amsterdam Avenue, cops said,” according to the New York Post.

King was charged with Murder, Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Criminal Use of a Firearm, the police report said.

This is the only murder committed on the Upper West Side so far this year.

151 west 100th street is the address for the 24 precinct,

This was an awful murder. I hope some measure of justice is done with the shooter paying a price. I hope the family finds some peace.

Good question. I can’t believe what is happening now even with most egregious crimes. Just recently, a parolee left a person in a COMA with a broken skull. Amazingly he was released without bail! It is hard to comprehend this fact, it is an obvious disregard for the law and human life, all because of ideology. I can’t even imagine how the family of the victim feels.

He is now being held on parole violation, courtesy Gov Hochul.

Hochul refused to do anything about repealing bail reform when Adams asked about it. Is she now going to review each case personally instead of correcting the issues to which she greatly contributed ?

Read about it last night. “Courtesy Gov.Hochul”?

Pre-election move. If she really meant business she would be getting rid of DAs like Bragg who refuse to prosecute these guys. If she is re-elected, she will be right back to woke treatment of criminals. Don’t be fooled by the charade.

This is not only Bragg, but Albany.
Change those terrible bail reforms.
We deserve better.
Re above: how was that person (a sex offender) let go after what he did. It’s wrong. There is no other way to describe it. Things have to change.

Do we have any idea as to motive in this murder or was this yet another version of that ever more wildly popular public event, the life-destroying bullet or sucker punch that comes out of the blue?

I don’t know, it appears, watching the local nightly news, that episodes of criminal insanity are trending ever higher. Perhaps society should dig deeply into its collective pockets to finance prisons (or more prisons) exclusively for psychopaths and the criminally insane… it’s either that or merely continue to be as sheep lined up for slaughter as we currently are; and be stabbed, shot, punched & pushed into oncoming subway cars in ever-increasing numbers… and, coming out of the blue as it so often does, these insane acts are impossible to defend oneself against.

Re: “…watching the local nightly news, that episodes of criminal insanity are trending ever higher. ”
Yes, you are correct…in part. BUT consider the #1 principle of local TV news programming: IF IT BLEEDS, IT LEADS.
Thus, we news-junkies are treated to constant coverage of: Shark Attacks!, House Fires!, Car Crashes!, Physical Assaults!, Brazen Store Robberies!, et-ceterahhh,
It’s a bit like the NY POST, but without the clever headlines.
And it DOES convince people that, YES, the sky IS falling!
