“Parents, children and volunteers painted a beautiful mural at PS145 (150 West 105th Street, Columbus & Amsterdam) last weekend,” Jonina Herter informed the Rag. “It is on two levels and truly brightens up the block and school. I think it would be a wonderful good news story for the neighborhood.”
We agree!
Update: Julia De Martini Day sent in more info about the mural. The mural designer is Michael Sherman (@michaelshermanstudio) and he is a PS145 parent. The mural theme is ‘Bloomingdale’ which is a word from Dutch that means valley of flowers. The design focuses on flowering trees found in New York City, and relates to the school garden. 65 volunteers, mostly from the PS145 community, helped paint the mural on Saturday, June 11th. Four year olds painted alongside 65 year olds, and some volunteers stayed for 9 hours!”

Yes, a lovely job! So…who designed it? Credit where due…and I am not a friend of the designer, at least as far as I know!
It’s designed by Michael Sherman Studio – see https://michaelshermanstudio.com
Hi Suzie. A parent at PS145 designed it. His name is Michael Sherman. The theme of the mural is based on the school and the neighborhood’s name: Bloomingdale, which is from a Dutch word meaning valley of the flowers.
