The 2022 New York City Marathon will return at full capacity on November 6 with an estimated 50,000 runners set to participate, according to amNY. “After the race was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2021 edition was limited to roughly half the field with 25,010 finishers. All runners looking to participate this year must be fully vaccinated. [New York Road Runners] will hold entry drawings in which runners can apply for a chance to gain entry into the field of the 2022 New York City Marathon. Applications for those drawings begin on March 9 at 12 p.m. ET and will be closed on March 23. The drawing will take place one week later on March 30 where runners will then be notified of their status.” Click the link for an application.
Gary Barnett of Extell Development Company has aquired the remaining properties at the ABC studios campus from Silverstein Properties and Seven Valleys for “around $925 million to $930 million,” sources familiar with the deal told Commercial Observer. “Barnett put a $50 million deposit down on the office assets — which sit on Columbus Avenue between West 66th and West 67th streets and is occupied by Disney’s as well as ABC’s studios — and the deal is expected to close in March, according to sources. The sale, combined with an earlier transaction for part of the campus, means Silverstein would roughly break even on its $1.2 billion purchase of the properties in 2018.”
“Bill de Blasio said he’d kick the Trump Org out of Wollman Rink. So why did Trump’s pals get the contract?” asks AIR MAIL. “The innuendo and simply false references implied by your questions are bizarre,” said a W.P.P. spokesperson, who declined to answer nearly all of AIR MAIL’s questions, including how and why Harris and Ross teamed up.” Josh Harris and Stephen Ross are involved in Wollman Park Partners. “W.P.P. will receive no return on its significant capital investment beyond being paid back with zero interest for capital improvements. All other funds go to support youth participation in ice sports.” Ross is reportedly a funder raiser for Donald Trump.
Bridget Everett, the actress and cabaret performer who stars in the HBO series, “Somebody Somewhere,” and is a regular at The Public Theater’s Joe’s Pub, describes her Sundays on the Upper West Side, where she has lived since 1997, in The New York Times. “I grab my tote and walk over to the Museum of Natural History for the farmer’s market…Jessica Seinfeld posted a loaf on Instagram. I got influenced”… “I got to get those steps in…I go to Riverside Park…I power up the steps on 83rd Street”… “I squeeze in a mani and pedi over at Cindy’s…Cindy’s is the closest I’ve had to human contact in the last two years. As a single person, you know, it’s nice to have somebody squeeze your hands a little.”

When I lived on 81st Street between 1967-1977, Zingone was THE go-to market, not the supermarket across the street. It’s so wonderful to see that a local family-run store is still the anchor of the neighborhood!
What a lovely shout out to Zingone! Well deserved. I recall the big black out in 2002 (?). It was a Friday. ATMs and credit card machines where down. The Zingone’s were cashing personal checks so nobody was left cashless for the weekend. A true neighborhood gem and I didn’t know this is where you go for business referrals! Thanks for being you!
In the 1970s, I lived on West 83rd and was a regular at Zingone’s. One day, I bought ingredients to make ratatouille, but when I got home, I saw that my bag was filled with the wrong items. I brought it back to the store and showed the contents to the Zingone son who had helped with my order. He apologized for the mixup and began refilling a new bag with the exact items: “I remember, you had two eggplants, four zucchini, two onions, two peppers, and a pound of tomatoes.” How nice that the store has survived!
I love Somebody Somewhere!
I had no idea that the star lives on the UWS.
Wonderful!!
What a wonderful video and story about Zingine’s! It is a treasure.
They own the building, guys.
SO???
So they can afford to continue to operate the business. Unfortunately, very few small family-run businesses can afford to continue on the UWS due to increased rents and corporate large-store competition.
They are great people and I hope thery can continue for years to come, although I sense that their revenues and margins cant be enoght to support multiple families much longer, and they will likely vote to sell the building (for millions).
Been shopping there since 1965 when I moved to the UWS from the lower east side.
Best people, best service, best atmosphere.
Go for another 100 years and thanks for the memories.
