“I’ve been participating in JASA’s crossword construction class for a little over ten years,” Dan says. “It’s always been fun and rewarding. The class instructors have all been experts and wonderful teachers. It is always exciting to see the finished puzzles in The New York Times.”

Sundays at JASA has been offering college-level continuing education classes for adults age 50+ for the last 30 years. JASA is proud to be the go-to agency for older New Yorkers, with a range of more than 20 programs and services to help seniors age in their own homes and communities.

Sundays at JASA currently provides all classes over Zoom. According to Program Director Joe George, they now have students all over the U.S. and Canada. JASA is offering 16 courses this winter semester, and the majority are also accessible by phone. JASA hopes to offer some in-person courses during the later spring semester.

JASA classes are held on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays. A tuition fee of $120 includes the entire catalog of courses for the six week semester. Student Dolores shared: “We certainly loved our JASA courses this term and last! Thank you to you and all your staff and instructors for enriching our lives.”

This semester features many courses in the arts: Drawing Workshop, Art in the City, Masterpieces of Art, Cinema Lecture Series, Creative Writing, Shakespeare, Postmodern American Poetry, Acting, The Music of George Gershwin and more. As always, Sundays will include its popular Crossword Construction and Opera Companion classes. History classes – Jewish History, the American Presidency, and Landmark Supreme Court Decisions – are also offered.

Sundays has also added a new Afternoon Performance Series – join them each Sunday afternoon for a play reading or reading of poetry from modern poets.
