Pieces from the ArtWorks Holiday Crafts Fair.

By Carol Tannenhauser

The 42nd annual ArtWorks Holiday Crafts Fair at the West Side YMCA (5 West 63rd) will be back this year for three days only: Thursday – Saturday, December 9, 10, and 11.

23 students, assistants, and teachers from this long-standing community arts program will be selling their one-of-a-kind ceramic pieces and hand-crafted jewelry. Twenty percent of all proceeds will go back into the program to fund ArtWorks Studio supplies.

“The ArtWorks Pottery Studio has been around for over 40 years and the potters were instrumental in getting the Y to reinstate their pottery classes as the city began to slowly reopen,” explained Julann Gebbie, an ArtWorks volunteer. “We are working to get back to our pre-Covid offerings and Artworks looks forward to offering more classes in the new year.” In the past, it has offered courses in stained glass, drawing, watercolor, and beading.

There will be an Opening Reception for the Holiday Crafts Fair on Thursday, December 9, from 5:30 to 8:00pm. You can meet the artists, learn about their crafts, and discover what upcoming ArtWorks classes will be offered in the new year. The event is FREE to the public. Proof of vaccination and masks are required.

Schedule of Events:

Thursday, December 9th: 8am to 8pm; Opening Reception: 5:30pm to 8pm
Friday, December 10th: 8:00am to 8:00pm
Saturday, December 11th: 9:00am to 3:00pm
