Balloon Kings, a party store at 207 West 80th Street, is celebrating the opening of 50% capacity dining this weekend by stringing more than 500 feet of balloons along Amsterdam Avenue from 79th to 81st Street.
“A lot of neighborhoods have been hit hard with store closings and indoor dining being limited over the past year, foot traffic has decreased and the lively neighborhood we once had is no more,” said owner Gene Nifenecker. “Daylight Savings Time brings longer days and hopefully coupled with increased dining capacity, our neighbors will come out to show some support to our block this weekend. I just wanted to do my part to bring a little balloon happiness to my friends and neighbors.”

God bless them!‼️
They’ve always supported our neighborhood through good and bad… I remember 911
Thank you guys… You’ve been great neighbors.
You’ll have our total support.
Nice to see a little (merited) optimism.
It looks so wonderful! Our kids really enjoyed it. Support Ballon kings as well for your next festive occasion
What a joy to see all if these beautifully colored & stren balloons emanating from @BalloonKing onto Amsterdam to 79th Street. As a small business owner on the UWS for 38+ yrs, it was a joy & pleasure to see the the joy & excitement that you brought to the neighborhood this weekend!
Thank you so much! Debra Kravet @apthorpcleaners ❤ 😍 😊
Balloon King – you made spring even brighter and more fun and meaningful. Your contribution not only was a labor of love with hours of work and hundreds of balloons but also a brilliant way to raise spirits. I’m proud to live on 80th Street. Thank you so much.
I certainly hope the balloons and strings are disposed of properly. The death and destruction to wildlife caused by balloons is devastating.
