Yaldaynu Preschool, located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, is a place where the community comes together to support children’s development and growth in all areas, as well as foster Jewish identity. We aim to inspire and motivate children to become caring individuals and confident learners.
Based on a Reggio Emilia approach, children are at the forefront of the learning experience. We believe that all children deserve to be taught in the way that they learn, and teachers tailor activities to each child’s strengths and areas of growth. Yaldaynu values the power of play and how it supports engaged learning. Play promotes cognition, language, self-regulation, social competencies, and physical growth. The learning that happens at Yaldaynu is cross-curricular and hands-on.
Additionally, when families join Yaldaynu, they become members of a warm and welcoming school family. It is not just the children who become friends at Yaldaynu, but the parents and caregivers as well. The strong connections forged at Yaldaynu remain long after families have graduated from the school.
Although this school year has been greatly impacted by the pandemic, Yaldaynu was able to successfully open in-person in September. The staff has worked diligently to ensure that the school could remain safely open, and the families have been happy to partner with the school. Yaldaynu’s COVID-19 Policies can be found HERE.
