Parents are Delaying Normal Childhood Vaccines Amid Pandemic, Raising New Concerns

Many people have understandably been staying away from hospitals and medical offices during the coronavirus pandemic. But in some cases that could be leading to other problems.

One issue is that parents have been delaying vaccines for their children, and now vaccination rates are 63% below normal levels. The city is directing people to 1,000 vaccination sites that are not in hospitals, accoding to City Councilmember Mark Levine, who leads the council’s Health Committee. To find one near you, call 844-NYC-4NYC.

Serious health challenge emerging in this crisis:

==> Rate of children getting vaccinated in NYC is down 63% during the pandemic

Parents: it's critical that you get your kids vaccinated. Call 844-NYC-4NYC to make an appointment at one of 1,000 locations. It's free.

This is a casualty of fact that people have had far less access to primary care while our healthcare system had to focus on covid emergencies. But thankfully there's more capacity now.

And the vaccination sites are not in hospitals, so less fear of being around covid patients.
