Daily Provisions, Bar Boulud, Boulud Sud, Saiguette Join Growing List of Restaurants Closing Temporarily

Daily Provisions when it was open.

Several local restaurants have closed as city leaders urge people to stay inside and stop congregating in light of the coronavirus. Daily Provisions, the new bakery and cafe on 78th Street and Amsterdam Avenue, has closed, along with other restaurants in Danny Meyer’s Union Square Hospitality Group.

“We have made the difficult decision to temporarily close for service to prioritize the health and safety of our team, our guests, and our community,” the Daily Provisions website said. “While we are fueled  by the opportunity to welcome you with warm hospitality, we believe that closing is in the best interest of public health at this time.”

Bar Boulud and Boulud Sud on Broadway and 64th also announced they could close, as did Sauiguette, the Vietnamese spot on 106th and Columbus.

Eater has a more full list of restaurants that have closed that they’ve been updating.

As of Monday, doubt anything will be okay to open except for grocery & pharmacy for at least a few weeks.

At least we have the Park!

I also heard from a reliable source that starting tomorrow – Monday, all Starbucks shops will only offer takeout drinks/food – no more in-store lounging, y’all! They’ve already removed most of the furniture.

City has just ordered all bars and venues to close, and restaurants are take away only.

There is going to be huge economic pain on both owners and employee side. Suppose it had to be done for the greater good, but that may prove cold comfort later when places already on shaky fiscal ground simply close up.

Rents and debts need to be suspended, or the economic chaos will last for years to come. People and businesses are drowning in debt as it is. This is not the time for doctrinaire partisanship.
