On Wednesday, September 25, join DOROT for: The ABCD’s of Medicare, A Medicare Rights Workshop, part of our Life Planning Workshop series.

The event, which is free of charge, consists of two sections. From 10:30 AM- 12:00 PM, Derek Ayeh from the Medicare Rights Center and Julia Greenberg, Esq. from the New York Legal Assistance Group (NYLAG) and will lead a presentation reviewing the four components of Medicare, including important changes that everyone should be aware of before the Open Enrollment period begins on October 15th.

In the afternoon, NYLAG attorneys Julia Greenberg and Tina Janssen-Spinosa will be available from 1:00 to 5:00 PM by appointment only for private consultations on a range of topics, including Medicare-related issues and Long Term Care/Medicaid planning. The attorneys are also available to assist in preparing documents such as Powers of Attorney, statutory gift riders, SSI appointments of representative forms, and Appointment of Agent to Control Disposition of Remains.   DOROT’s team of trained facilitators will also be on hand to assist individuals with their advance healthcare documents.

“We are delighted to partner with the attorneys at NYLAG and experts from the Medicare Rights Center to provide our community with legal expertise and life planning guidance free of charge,” says Wendy Handler, Director of Onsite & Special Programs at DOROT.

Registration is a must. Those who wish to meet privately in the afternoon with an attorney or social worker must register in advance by contacting Lena King at lking@dorotusa.org or 917-441-3744. Due to space limitations, we ask all those planning to attend the morning session also to register. This event is made possible by a generous grant from The David Berg Foundation.
