Casting the UWS in “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel”
Thursday, September 26th 6:30-7:45pm 150 W. 83rd St.

Do you love The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel? If you’ve been following Midge, Joel, Abe, Rose and Susie around the Upper West Side, Landmark West! is thrilled to announce a “Marvelous” conversation you won’t want to miss!

Amanda Foley, location scout for the Emmy- and Golden Globe-award winning The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video) takes us behind the scenes with highlights and photos of how her team pulls off their gorgeous architectural time-travel to 1950’s NYC.

We’ll hear how everything begins with breaking down the script, getting a feel for who the characters are, where they live, and where their storylines will take them around the city. The (Abe/Rose) Weissmans and the (Midge/Joel) Maisels are Upper West Siders, so naturally a classic pre-war apartment building had to be found. We’ll see early scouting shots, hear what didn’t make the cut, and learn the tricks to making a street, lobby or exterior shot 1958 all over again.

We’re in for a wonderful night of stories and streetscapes – of “befores” and “afters” and everything in between—including just how large a role scaffolding plays in it all!  Come join LW! for a special night back in the “old” neighborhood!
