Rep. Jerry Nadler Has Health Scare at PS 199, Says He Was ‘Obviously Dehydrated’

Rep. Jerry Nadler sat between Mayor Bill de Blasio and Borough President Gale Brewer at the event.

Local congressman Jerry Nadler had an apparent dizzy spell at an event at PS 199 on 70th Street on Friday and was taken to the hospital.

Nadler was at an event at the school to announce new speed cameras that will be placed near schools throughout the city to crack down on speeding drivers.

“Nadler looked pale and his head abruptly dropped into his hands,” the Daily News reported. “De Blasio reached over to comfort Nadler and white-coated doctors rushed onto the dais behind a sign reading Speed Cameras Save Lives.”

After being taken to the hospital Nadler tweeted an update.

“Appreciate everyone’s concern,” the update read. “Was very warm in the room this morning, was obviously dehydrated and felt a bit ill. Glad to receive fluids and am feeling much better. Thank you for your thoughts.”

Glad the Congressman is doing fine but this really points out what every PS 199 parent already knows. The gym and auditorium in that building lack proper ventilation and as a result kids pass out at events held in those spaces all the time.

Not to mention the stress of being the ringmaster of the DNC chamber pot circus of perfidious lying Russia hoax villains plus knowing his name in analogs of history will not merit even a typo. The mantle of 1984 is heavy burden. Other than that, as well, hope he’s ok.

Surprise !!

As of 10:46 a.m./ May 25th there were 13 comments: 12 pro Nadler…and then there was the above.

Let’s see: Hmmm…ONE out of THIRTEEN equals….ummm…1/13….= 0.076923…or .08…or 8-percent.

Which is about the correct percentage of support for Herr Trump on the UWS!

Anti-Nadler doesn’t not mean pro-Trump. There’s a lot of these pseudo statistics going. Not helping Dems case.
I’m a dem, but I think Nadler’s agenda ridiculous. Didn’t want to voice it out of respect to his health issues. As probably the case with lots of other people thinking alike.

Jen is correct. Just because someone throws out some numbers to make an arguement, doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a solid arguement. And a person calling Nadler out on having TDS doesn’t mean that person is pro-Trump.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, even one as poorly expressed as his. Let’s just call it Hobson’s Choice.

As a proud constituent of Jerry Nadler, I can only wish him well. Scary episode, but I’m glad he got immediate attention This is a man I want to see healthy and active. Please. I think I’m speaking for most of my neighbors, Mr. Nadler. You’re working very hard and I hope you take good care of yourself.

I sincerely wish him well, and hope it was nothing more than a passing bout of dehydration or low blood sugar. He has served the West Side well for the many years I have lived here and his work as Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee makes him, to my mind, one of the most valuable voices in Congress. We need him to stay healthy.

Please buy a case of the small bottles of Fiji water or Poland Spring and keep one with you at all times. And keep them everywhere you spend time. You have to drink throughout the your entire waking time. You do not get credit at 10 pm for what you drank at noon. You have to keep it up until you go to sleep at night. If you wake up in the middle of the night go pee, and then, drink more. You will go back to sleep faster and stay asleep longer. Please take this seriously and be mindful about it.

Dear Congressman Nadler,
So glad you are feeling better now.
I watched you talking with Rachel Maddow last evening and I could see the stress you are under dealing with a very unstable President and following through on Muller’s assessment of Trumps obstructing justice.
Thank you for your hard work in protecting our democracy!

I’m truly sorry that the Congressman did not feel well, and glad to hear that he is OK. I wish him only health and long life!
At the same, given his obsession with President Tump and his neglect of the UWS so that he can impeach the President, I’m waiting for him to blame President Trump (or perhaps it was VP Pence) for the dehydration.

I’m curious where did they get “white-coated doctors”? Is this normal protocol to have doctors ( not EMTs ) present at those meetings? Normally docs ( unless it’s a hospitalist ) would not even wear a white coat – and here you have several…

For whatever reasons those physicians were invited or otherwise attended that press conference. Unless they had the day off (and maybe not even then), many doctors would yes likely show up in their white coats.

Without going into a long story it is a status thing. Those white coats are tied to the status and position which comes with being a doctor. Nurses had to fight a long and often bitter battle to be able to wear white coats. First and main reason hospitals refused their requests was “you might be mistaken for a doctor…”.

As for non-hospitalists not wearing white coats, I don’t know about that. My GP and various specialists have been to all wear white coats in their offices. So do many urgent care and “CityMD” type physicians as well.
