The New Plaza Cinemas group that was created after Lincoln Plaza Cinemas closed is hosting a new slate of films at at the New York Institute of Technology at 1671 Broadway between 61st and 62nd. Among the films that will be shown is the Cat Video Fest, consisting of the finest cat videos from the Internet and beyond. See a trailer below.
From April 2-9, the JCC at Amsterdam and 76th Street is hosting Reelabilities, “the largest festival in the country dedicated to promoting awareness and appreciation of the lives, stories and artistic expressions of people with different abilities.” See the full list of films here.
And the AMC Lincoln Square is hosting a 22-film Marvel movie marathon on April 23 to prepare for the release of Avengers: Endgame. Can you handle 59 hours of superheroes?
Wait – is the movie marathon for real? Sitting in a theater for that LONG!? Hmmm… I’d only do that from the comfort of my own couch dressed in my PJs.
if I ever get to a point in my life where I would even consider viewing a “cat video fest”, I want to be struck down dead instantly.
Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it. Also, there will be an adoption event in the lobby of the theater 1871 Broadway Sunday April 7 1-4pm. Come meet the fantastic volunteers of The Animal Project NYC and their adorable kittens and cats.
BBC News had an amusing report on the Cat Video Festival last month: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-47562904
