A man displaying a gun robbed the Rite Aid at 210 Amsterdam Avenue (70th Street) at 3:50 a.m. Wednesday morning, police said. No one was injured during the incident.

A Rite Aid staffer told WSR that “not much” money was taken from the register. NYPD says $610 was the amount stolen.

Police describe the suspect as a 5′ 8″ white male who wore a gray and black hoodie, gray shorts over black leggings, black and white sneakers and a surgical mask during the robbery. The suspect fled southbound on Amsterdam. NYPD’s investigation is continuing.

Deputy Inspector Timothy Malin of the 20th Precinct provided the following photos of the suspect.

Is it me, or has this particular Rite Aid had a disproportionate amount of robberies, in the last four or five years?

There is definitely unhappiness among the staff there resulting in bad customer service. I try to go to Duane Reade whenever possible. I’m mentioning this b/c I once worked at an unhappy place like this and they had TWO robberies in a very short period of time …. both turned out to be “inside” jobs …. an employee had their family member come in at a known planned time … I’m sure they split the difference.

Shame on you TLT for implying that the staff might be guilty. Do you have anything to base it on besides your “perception” of their unhappiness? How dare you!

So sorry to hear about that! It’s the best drugstore in the neighborhood with fabulous merchandise and prices, and has the nicest staff. They go out of their way to help us customers. I pray they’ll be able to have 24/7 Security Guards to protect them and their customers. Love the store! Oh please God keep them safe!

I feel terrible for all the people who work there. Very hard working and nice crew. I shop there regularly and was always concerned about their safety at night. Speaking of guns, our politicians should have focused more on this huge issue instead of Trump impeachment and Amazon tax breaks.

I like this store. The staff is nice, the price is good, they have everything i need. Duan Read’s price is too high. I’m always thankful that we have this store in our
Neighborhood. Maybe it’s not necessary to open the store that late. They become certainly vulnerable to robbery in that late hours. That’s why they get robbed. Not because of unhappy staff.
