Cross-Eyed Bank Robber Tried to Hit UWS Chase Twice With Mixed Results, Police Say

A bank robber that police describe as a thin, cross-eyed white man twice attempted to rob the Chase bank at 2438 Broadway (90th), with different results. Police released the photo above and the description below.

It was reported to the police that on May 23, 2018 at 1745 hours an individual entered a Chase Bank, located at 2438 Broadway, where he simulated a weapon underneath his jacket and demanded money.  The individual fled after the bank teller handed him $1,400.  On May 29, 2018 at 1506 hours, the individual returned to the same bank and simulated a weapon underneath his jacket while demanding money.  The bank teller refused and the individual fled the scene empty handed.

The individual is described as a white male, 50-60 years-old, 5’6” with a thin build.  He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, grey hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and cross-eyed.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.

One would think there would be a security guard on duty after all these bank robberies; and that there would be a system whereby the tellers alert the guards with a button or something. Glad no one was hurt.

They have signs informing customers that the banks are a robbery free zone…

I’ve lived in the building where that Chase Bank is for 20 years. It doesn’t matter which brand it is – but someone tries to rob it every couple of years – usually twice – and then nothing for several years. I wonder if it’s related to a particular planetary alignment 🙂
