CIPRIANI OPENING SPECIALTY MARKET AND FOOD HALL AT NEW RIVERSIDE BOULEVARD DEVELOPMENT

Cipriani will open a new food market in Waterline Square, a high-end real estate development that is being built along Riverside Boulevard from 59th to 61st Street.

It sounds like it will be similar to Eataly, with sit-down restaurants and a market: “a dynamic food, beverage, and market destination”

“The Cipriani family will develop 28,000 square feet of space for a large format culinary experience with multiple food and beverage establishments, featuring a market, restaurants, and fast casual outlets,” Cipriani said in a statement.

Waterline Square, which will have 1,132 units, just recently started selling apartments, at $2 million and up. There will also be rentals which are not yet on the market. And 20% of the units will be available via affordable housing lotteries because the project got special tax benefits.

Wondering if anyone knows?
The affordable housing will be time-limited, e.g. Only for the duration of the tax break? Then goes to market rate rental?

And affordable based on local income levels – not just a citywide average?

This Food Hall thing is on the verge of going the way of the Food Truck . too much saturation and it all becomes mundane . Be careful folks

Cipriani has priced itself out of Venice, now our neighborhood is next.

First, Domino’s…then 7-11…then Dunkin Donuts…and now this. Just another chain restaurant looking to exploit our beloved neighborhood.

In all seriousness, the place downtown is amazing. I was lucky enough to go to a few events there over the years and…wow! talk about fancy schmancy!:)

Totally worth it if you have FU money or someone else is picking up the bill…hahah

“FU money” = “F**k you money”, meaning having so much money that you can afford to do whatever the f**k you want with it.

Thanks Paul! hahahah!!! You got me laughing over here.

Nice explanation. Couldn’t have said it better myself. I know it’s kind of crude. The funny thing is I remember learning this expression from my mother. Chain smoked Camels and cursed like a sailor….love ya Ma!!:)
