JCC Manhattan is excited to host two evenings of magical live radio on Sunday, April 30th and Monday, May 1st with the creators of Israel Story—the award-winning radio show and podcast that public radio icon Ira Glass calls “the Israeli This American Life.” With its unique blend of live storytelling and surprising multimedia, Israel Story introduces us to a different Israel, one which we rarely get a chance to see: life-sized, nuanced, funny, and touching.
The evenings’ theme will be “Melting Pot” as the Israel Story team explores how seven decades after David Ben Gurion dreamed of an Israel based on diverse cultures uniting to form a unique Israeli identity, it has transformed into the reality that Israel’s President Rivlin has famously described as divided into four “tribes.” The team asks: whatever happened to that simple, yet complicated notion of an Israeli “melting pot”?
