Veep, the hilarious HBO comedy featuring Julia Louis-Dreyfus, will be filming on 79th and 80th Streets between Amsterdam and Columbus next week, and signs have been up for days reminding residents to move their cars. Columbus between 79th and 80th will also be commandeered for the shoot, which is set for March 7, a Tuesday.
It’s not the first Washington DC-focused production to shoot in New York. The Americans has shot in the area multiple times, and actors have showcased their 80’s-style Russian fashion.
Ironically, Seinfeld was mostly shot in L.A., so Louis-Dreyfus may actually spend more time here for Veep.
Thanks to Roger for the tip.
Cue whiney neighbors in 3…2…
The Blacklist is supposed to be in DC but shoots here. (And The Good Wife was supposed to be in Chicago but mostly shot here, too; often at Orsay for some reason. The Blacklist shoots at Orsay, too).
Does anyone know if the most recent episode of Girls, which took place in Matthew Rhys’ character’s apartment, was shot on the Upper West Side? The apartment on the show looks like 67 Riverside Drive.
I think you are right about 67 Riverside.
(great last scene !!)
Living at 80th and Riverside, I can confirm that Girls shot for a few days near Riverside and 79th St. So it’s quite possible that was 67 Riverside Drive that you saw. But I don’t watch the show so I can’t say more than that. 🙂
The scene shot on Riverside aired on Sunday’s episode. I think they go into 52 Riverside, but not totally sure.
Bryan Cranston was filming a movie at Grey’s Papaya on 72nd street a couple of weeks ago. I love seeing celebrities around town 😉
Blue Bloods has done location filming a couple of times near my apartment and Elementary shot in the community garden on 90th between Columbus and Amsterdam last year.
