UWS BUILDING COULD GET A CAMEO IN THIS WEEKEND’S SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE

150 west 96th

Saturday Night Live was filming at a nondescript building on the Upper West Side this week, according to a neighbor who spoke to crew members. Our tipster, “Kells”, says they were shooting both inside and outside the building.

The building in question is at 150 West 96th Street. Known as the RNA House, it is a long-time Mitchell-Lama residence and has hundreds of beehive-like windows.

Kristen Stewart hosts this week.

Re: “it is a long-time Mitchell-Lama residence and has hundreds of beehive-like windows.”

It is also one of the uglier buildings on the UWS !

Looks like something designed by a USSR architect. 😱

Bauhaus/Modernist architecture movement was *very* big in the 1950’s and 1960’s here in NYC and elsewhere in USA. The RNA building show above went up in 1967 and here is a page about the architects:

Yes, all that reinforced concrete and Spartan bordering upon brutal design does put one in mind of U.S.S.R or parts of Germany.

More buildings resemble that covering, than during 1954 ? n.b. some OLD buildings in L.I.C.; Flushing, N.Y.C.. UGH, an old building was torn down cuz of newer N.Y.P.L. @ 113th St.. STOP hiring furriner construction workers, inc. Bolivian/Bangladeshi, who don’t speak our English language enough on the job.

Hullo ! re affordable housing. help Section 8. Revive : Pathways to Housing, Inc. [N.Y.C.[ Rescue me & my belongings. @ 1952, N.Y. Life tore down too much of E. 27th St. ? UWSide was lovelier, in some ways, @ 1954-64. Social work oft put some clients in some slums, oft near NOISY neighbors/Parks, w/sub-standard apts., vermin; &, other woes. Rescue me & my current belongings. I no longer have pets, houseplants. n.b. prefab apt. bldgs. in E. Berlin, E. Germany. Also, c.f. tower hamlets in Polish t.v. film @ the 10 Commandments; &, Lord Mountbatten council housing in Rotherhithe, London,Eng., U.K.. I’m in agony; ISOLATED, used to be middle-class, Caucasian in upper Manhattan slums.

This building always gave me the creeps.

It’s grimy and dated.

It looks like something an architect in the 1960s might have envisioned the future would look like.

“It’s grimy and dated.”

let’s raze it and the neighborhood can get a long needed over-due Duanne Reade. Or maybe a CVS?

Also, there’s not a Whole Foods for at least 2 blocks, so, we can get another one of those.

Actually looks like many of the buildings that are part of the NYU Greenwich/West Village campus.

Nondescript? That’s like calling our president a moderate on immigration reform. That’s an example of extreme ugliness.

The President actually is, by all indications thus far, fairly moderate on immigration; neither what President Trump has done or proposed thus far go far enough, which would be a complete and total moratorium on nearly all immigration.

I’d include a link or two to support my assertions and contentions but I fear that doing so would make it less likely that my comment will make it past our estimable guardians.
