24 LOCAL SPOTS OFFERING RESTAURANT WEEK DEALS

Looking to try some Australian food? Check out Burke & Wills, mate!

It’s winter restaurant week (which is always longer than a week) and 24 Upper West Side restaurants are offering deals. During restaurant week, you can get special lunch deals for $29 or dinner deals for $42, but keep your eye on the fine print: Saturdays are excluded, Sundays are optional and the price doesn’t include beverages, taxes or tips. Not all of the restaurants offer the deals both at lunch and dinner.

The list of UWS restaurants include Burke & Wills, The Leopard at des Artistes and Lincoln Square Steak. See the full list here. Restaurant week runs until Feb. 10.

I have always been very underwhelmed by the Restaurant Week offerings. The options they provide are quite limited, and as a friend who works at an upscale restaurant disclosed to me “we provide the easiest and cheapest dishes to prepare, it allows people to feel like they are getting a top-class meal, but its totally not – don’t waste your $$”.
But, you do get to have a full meal at a really nice establishment , with the ambience and service that comes with it. That may be worth it to many.

I’ve always understood that the lunch offering is the way to go. You basically get the same food as dinner albeit smaller portion, but same great “all around everything else”

Joe, I agree with you. I have always considered these weeks to be a ‘tourist trap’ for us city folks. While the prices are indeed reduced, so are the portions. I rather pay full price for a full meal!

I quite like them, as the portion sizes are actually what I call appropriate, rather than the outsized portions you often get (which means I usually only share an appetizer with my wife, a main each, and no dessert due to being full).

For ambiance and service, The Leopard is the best restaurant I’ve been to on the UWS.

This site is truly amazing. People whine about how expensive everything is, especially restaurants, and then when a fine dining establishment lowers their prices people whine about that too.

You can’t have a nice dinner without some whine.

And then we have people whining about people whining.

Seems to be a fair amount of smoke and mirrors
