EQUITY RESIDENTIAL TO CHANGE NAME OF ‘TRUMP PLACE’ BUILDINGS

Residents of 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Boulevard got an email on Tuesday from Equity Residential, the landlord at the Trump Place buildings, saying the company would change the official name of the buildings so it can remain “neutral.” Some residents had petitioned prior to the election to pull the Trump name off the buildings, citing Trump’s statements about women and immigrants, among other issues.

To Residents of 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Boulevard: This week, the Trump Place building names will change to the street addresses – 140, 160 and 180 Riverside Boulevard. The purpose of this change is to assume a neutral building identity that appeals to all current and future residents. Using the street address for the building name is popular practice in NYC, and our well-known Riverside address makes it easy for visitors to locate the building.

Residents at 220 Riverside, a condo building, had also previously pushed for a name-change.

They are probably going to take down the Trump signs and put them on the White House – his ego is that big.

Next action item – change the name of Riverside Boulevard to something else so it is not confused with Riverside Drive.

Are you kidding? It’s *supposed* to be confused with Riverside Drive.

The nouveau riche who bought there *wanted* to glom onto the cachet of (the real) Riverside Drive. No doubt that was a calculated subliminal part of the marketing plan that got them to buy there in the first place.

So we should vote solely on gender, what an assanine comment…the “race vote” 8 years ago should have shown that identity politics don’t work.

That’s true Chuck. It will get under his skin, so it’s worth it. He’ll probably file a lawsuit just to get even

The snowflakes strike again. Ridiculous. Hey anyone notice the war with ISIS or all of the starving children in the world? Who cares, let’s focus on letters on a building. How about spending the money required for removing and replacing the name on a donation to homeless causes…yeah, right.

So you can’t care about your buildings name AND starving children?
Your post might be an unintentional peek into the limits of the conservative mind.
I’m not sure everyone is as incapable of caring/thinking/acting about multiple topics as you might be having a problem with.

I’m sure the Trump Foundation does a lot more legal activities than the Clinton Foundation…you know the money laundering organization of those two upstanding people…

While we’re at it, why do we have Malcolm X boulevards? He was deeply associated with the Nation of Islam, which hates women, gays, and Jews.

Does anyone really consider this the UWS? and if so, when did the 50’s and 60’s become part of the UWS.

Some of this stuff is closer to Hell’s Kitchen or Columbus Circle. Below 72nd st is considered Lincoln Square and probably many other things by realtors, residents, city employees etc.72-110 is the UWS. Gracias.

But…but…but….

All the bankers who bought into whatever-it-is-we’re-now-supposed-to-call Trump Place bought there because they wanted to live on the currently chi-chi “Upper West Side”. (That’s why its main drag is called “Riverside Boulevard”.)

They can’t score points at cocktail parties or at the competition to become a Managing Director by saying they live in “Lincoln Square” or “Columbus Circle”. Those are, at best, “ehh” places to live. And oh-my-gracious “I drove my Maserati up from my home in Hell’s Kitchen”? I don’t think so!

They’re rich and they live here. They want to be able to say they live on the “Upper West Side”. Therefore, they do.

The rich *always* get what they want.

Please let us know when the gaudy Trump names are scheduled to be removed. Perhaps we can have an UWS block party while watching them come down … and we should invite the orangutan to join us to see our delight.

They should have left up some of the letters. Wouldn’t it be awesome to live in a building called RUMP ACE?
