bank robbery suspect2

Police are looking for the woman shown above for an attempted bank robbery on Tuesday at the Chase Bank on Broadway and 79th Street. It looks like she’s holding a tote bag (at least it’s not plastic!).

It was reported to the police that on Tuesday, August, 2, 2016, at 1330 hours the individual entered the Chase bank located at 2219 Broadway and passed a note to the bank teller demanding money. The bank teller didn’t comply and the individual fled the location on foot in an unknown direction.

The individual is a female, White, approximately 45-years of age, 5’5″, long straight black hair, light complexion, last seen wearing a black dress and black shoes.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS or for Spanish 1-888-57-PISTA (74782)

The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers Website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or texting their tips to 274637(CRIMES) then enter TIP577.

    Wow, Bonnie Parker lives.
Seriously, I guess because we see these stories every day, and it is common knowledge that bank tellers are instructed to comply with these robbery notes, more people feel emboldened to simply write a note and get away with 1000s of dollars. All you need is a piece of paper, a pen and some nerves… I wonder what % of these criminals are caught. I imagine the guy who is on a spree eventually gets caught, but a one-off in a disguise?

Finally – some equality in this wicked world! Not enough women robbing banks. Clear gender bias.

No joking matter, jokeyjokester! Women demand equal pay for equal work! If you can call bank robbery a profession.

Agreed! Apparently, they caught her upstate or in CT. She used to live on 72nd Street near CPW and was evicted. (A doorman gave me the scoop the night before when a photographer was snapping pics of the apt building.)

Welcome to the “Trump TerrorDome.” Fear of the oncoming Trumpaclypse is driving normal folk to go back to the survival modes of the 1930’s. No one had any money because of the misshapen political perspectives, so, as Willy Loman said, “I rob banks, because that’s where the money is.” Prediction: Soon, a woman with a stroller will be so desperate for food (of course, we know she can’t afford shelter), that she will try this desperate gesture to survive. Welcome Trumpsters to your DOOMdome.

Willy Loman might have robbed banks if sales were way down, but in the meantime Willy Sutton did those evil deeds.

Too tall and far too well nourished to ever be Ruth Gordon. Vivian Vance perhaps.

Not exactly the brightest blub in the box; I mean at least the others wear masks/wigs/fake beards, etc…. You *KNOW* there are cameras everywhere inside banks.

My guess is this woman was driven to an impulse act out of desperation. Maybe she heard about the many other such robberies/ID thefts that remain unsolved to date and figured she’d give it a shot.

I mean you don’t get many white middle-aged women pulling bank jobs these days.

That could be a disguise. There are silicon masks that from a security camera that looks very real.
